Please take the time to read the following carefully. This policy will be implemented on Monday, August 9th, 2010.
The policy is a result of many discussions and an ongoing problem of people leaving the group due to chat and notice 'spam’. With over 2200 members, all having different reasons for joining the group, it has become clear that we must put a stop to that problem.
Here is the Policy:
1. The Role of Everyone (all new members) will be expanded to allow receipt of notices.
The Role of Mentor will remain as is except that the Title will be changed to “GA Member” to avoid confusion with the mentors at the LGBT Pride Gateway
New members to the Group (as well as all current members) will therefore have the Roles of Everyone and Mentor (GA Member).
2. The Role of Mentor, which now includes almost everyone in the group, has the ability to chat, but this has been one of the main issues. It is impossible to monitor this 24 hours every day, but it has caused ongoing concern for many group members.
Chat in this group is **strictly** limited to the general business of the Gay Archipelago and to news and announcements that are applicable to ALL group members and are relevant to the ENTIRE GA cluster.
3. The ability to send Notices to the group will be restricted to a small number, namely GA Estate Owners, GA Council members, and Group Owners.
Notices in this group are **strictly** limited to the general business of the Gay Archipelago and to news and announcements that are applicable to ALL group members and are relevant to the ENTIRE GA cluster. Absolutely NO private events or services can be advertised in this group,
4. Both Chat and Notices will be carefully monitored, and anyone who abuses either will be asked ONCE not to continue. After the second misuse, that person will lose his/her ability to chat or send notices.
if you are unsure that your announcement is appropriate, it would be best to ask a Group Owner before posting.
Please note that the GA Events Group is much less restricted and is the best way to receive in-world notices of things to do around the Archipelago. If you would like and IF you do not mind a little more chat on occasion, you are welcome to join that group either in addition to or instead of the main group.
Again, this policy goes into effect this Monday, August 9, 2010. Questions about this policy may be directed to Myles Capalini or Thormec Micheline.
Thank you for your cooperation.
