‘What we call the beginning is often the end…..And to make an end is to make a beginning’ - T.S. Eliot

The end of the year, 2011 marks the end of a busy and active 6 months since the last activity report was filed.  The current Council Team was faced with the immediate challenges and turmoil of situations such as the sudden disappearance of multiple estates as they left for another grid, the ‘retirement’ of Fabrice Snook, the world economic situation (yes, it does impact SL), and the continuing uncertainty behind and subsequent shifting of the ‘appointed’ leadership of this second half-year Council Team of 2011.

As the last active administrative member of this current term of the Council Team, I have taken it upon myself to file this half-year report to better inform you on the status of activities and projects which fell into this last half of the year.

GROUPS:  As GA Groups manager/moderator, I am pleased to report that membership numbers have remained steady in both the GAY ARCHIPELAGO (2600 +-) group as well as the GA Events Info Group (733 +-).

The staff of Theatre on the Hill is not sleeping; they are dreaming. A dream to show YOU a new production, a first class show. TotH is now over a year active in Second Life and each show is better as the one before. Not in an artistic way. All shows were worth to see over and over again. The staff worked hard to get better animations, the sets are amazing and they looked also at the security settings to avoid lag. At moment the performers are rehearsing and fine tuning the acts.
As always they have choosen for a mix of music styles. Oldies, musicals, opera. The fans of Toth and the GA groups will get soon Theatre Magazine #3. Interviews, playlist and some snapshots.
If you love the work of this small team, please donate a few linden dollars if you visit the theater. Making shows and paying tier is not a cheap hobby and they deserve applause, donations and more group members. See you soon seated in Theatre on the Hill

After a serie of consultations, and questions/answers with the 120+ GA's estates owners, managers and facilitators, the new Council team is at work. The Council is not a "teahouse";) If you are willing to bring concrete help and support, and share inputs beneficial to the whole community, you are most welcome to join the team. Contact : Erik. About 10 days ago the GA Travel & Tourism Agency published in the GA groups a book with (almost) all land, condos, appartments all over the archipelago, for sale or to rent. It seems that not all GA residents saved that book full of dreams into their inventory. Sometimes you get a lot of notices and one click and an object is denied. If you have plans to buy some land or if you are looking for a nice home, you have 3 options to get these 65 pages with offers of our estate owners. 1. TP yourself to the sim Thira, at the southwest corner of the sim you find the GA Travel & Tourist Acency. Near the entrance you find a giftbox with the Real Estate Book. 2.Find one of the 17 terminals of the GA info group (all over GA) and redeliver your book. Membership of that group is free and not one of the 25 SL inworld groups. If you cannot find a terminal, you can IM the publisher of the book and tell him you are lost in the GA jungle.

This message is from Othon Weiland:

Dear estate owners, dear friends,

I tried, but it is taking me too much time to collect all data visiting nearly 150 sims to look at yellow parcels (for sale) and
for free rentals. The idea is to publish in September the Book of GA Landsales. (I am open for a better name).

As you know our GA groups and the Event hippo group have over 2000 readers and some of them are living at mainland or private estates outside GA. Publishing your parcels, condos & apartments can stimulate the local GA economy and give you perhaps a bit financial space and I hope you soon reach the breakeven point.

TILL SEPTEMBER 1, YOU CAN GIVE ME YOUR INFO.

Like a spreadsheet, I make pages [info cards] of each sim with all you have to offer. If it is a success, we can repeat this action in autumn for shops and malls. I know you are all very busy, but if you invest 10 minutes, you have a chance your sim will be visited more often and I hope they are not only 'lookers'.

Here you see some fields for info I need, the details are fake.

1. Name of sim: Greenland
2. Sale or rentals. 3 parcels of 1000 sq meters.
3. Prims/tier: 500 prims for L 1000 a month.
4. Local situation: Snow , ice and frozen lake.
5. Language spoken: International and some Danish
6. Special rules: Skyboxes over 500m. Only winter landscape.
7: Contacts: Hercules Poirot and/or Miss Marple
8 Extra info: Polar Bear Club & Lounge for residents. Residents are male & female.

If you want to add a picture. Please edit it in Paint, Photoshop etc, so all can see the name of sim/property.
The pages will be alphabetical published. If your sim has mainly French, German, Spanish, Swedish residents, you can use your native language + English.

This project is a TnT service. No costs for you, but donations are not denied.

We are developing more projects. If you have ideas or proposals for GA wide support, write me a notecard.

If you know someone who would like to translate pages of the Event Book, please introduce me to him or her.

Thank you for reading this dull message ;) )
Hugz,
Othon Weiland
